We can’t do it all but we do like to focus our efforts on the ways we can make your job easier.

You can search through the suggestions that are already in the system to see if the one on your mind has already been suggested. If it has, vote for it! The number of votes will be one of the factors we consider as we plan ongoing upgrades to the software. You have a limited number of votes. You can use up to three votes on any one idea.

  1. Adding pronouns field into Contact Details

    Adding pronouns option into contact details field when volunteers sign up to Volunteer Impact.

    This allows us to identify the pronouns a volunteer would like to use before we contact them or interview them.

    In 2020 we should be normalising conversations about gender, and show trans and non-binary equality. This avoids anyone making assumptions or mistakes with pronouns ahead of talking to the volunteer.

  2. Making Limited Admin Roles more customizable

    As we move to giving department leads limited access to the system (to pull reports/schedules/emergency contact), one issue we are running into is being able to limit the amount of information they can have access to in custom fields.

    For example, a department lead/supervisor needs to be able to see emergency contact information, but does not need access to their T-Shirt size (for uniforms) or knowing how they heard about the volunteer opportunity.

    It would be helpful to be able to narrow it down further, rather than blanket access.

  3. If the volunteers emergency contact information could be accessed on a limited profile so not to compromise volunteers private information

    I would like our Front of House staff to be able to locate emergency contact information for volunteers without having access to all their personal information. This is especially important at evenings and weekends.

  4. Select Field That Determines Start Date (Date Joined)

    I think it would be valuable to be able to select which field/date is the determinant for a volunteer's START DATE, which then determines Years Since Date Joined. Right now the application date is the Date Joined (start date) and in my organization I don't want that to determine years of service. I can manually change each applicant's Date Joined in the Misc. section of their profile, but I need to be able to select a date field that will apply to ALL profiles in the system, not just one by one.   5. Customize volunteer dashboard?

    Hello! I am wondering if you can add a field to the volunteer dashboard? It would be helpful to us to see the primary placement of the volunteer which we enter under the custom fields page. If it could be in red, that would be a bonus

  6. upload documents to notes

    Our records retention policy requires documents signed annually and kept for 5 years so being able to upload older documents that we need to keep but don't need to be accessed regularly would be super helpful in the notes section.

  7. Calculation Field for Volunteer Rewards Points

    Our volunteers are given 'rewards points' for every hour they work. They can then redeem those points for tickets to our events. With over 250 volunteers, adding a custom calculation field that could track the following information would be a life saver!!

    1) the number of hours (or points) earned
    2) the number of hours (or points) redeemed for tickets
    3) the remaining balance of hours (or points) they could redeem

    As of right now, we have to track all this info on an Excel spreadsheet which makes for double the work. Thanks for your consideration!

    Badges - for the hours, years of service and qualification badges, could they be linked to the volunteer status. For example, if a volunteer is an applicant or in process, then badges are not made visible based on those two statuses.

  9. Status for potential volunteer who never actually applies

    It would be helpful to have a status for someone who makes contact via phone or email requesting information re: programs or availability but never contacts again. So that we can record how we responded in case they contact again in the future. They're not really applicants but rather contacts. We can enter the info and archive the profile but there is no 'archive' reason that reflects that. Other would work if you could add your own reason.

  10. Uploaded Files - Quick Look?

    Sometimes I just need to get information from a document a volunteer uploads, but I don't need to download the entire document. A "Quick Look" option would be great!

  11. New archived status created for short term volunteer placement

    As more and more organisations are offering short term volunteering placements, it would be good to differentiate these volunteers when archiving. They do not fall into the current archived statuses of moved, deceased, resigned, rejected, etc. We use these statuses to run our data retention processes so this would be a logical status to have within the archived section.

  12. Managing granular access to fields

    Around the world there is more emphasis on managing personal information (under the various Privacy Laws). A key aspect to reduce risk of data getting in the wrong hands (through e.g. a security breach or user error) is managing who has access to what information.
    For example, DOB is a field that, if in the wrong hands can be used for identity theft. Whilst DOB is critical for us volunteering managers to have, not all of our administrators require to see this field. Therefor it would be great to just be able to indicate if fields are visible for the…

    I' love to have a record of occasions that volunteers sign up for an extra shift. It would be useful for recognition purposes and maybe creating a badge!

    It would be awesome for 'Not Visible on MyImpactPage' eLearning modules to be reviewed after volunteers complete them and receive the qualification.

  16. be able to collapse All custom fields at one time.

    it would be great if there could be a + sign at the top of the page for volunteers to collapse all of the custom fields at the very beginning. not just on each custom field. I think it would be best for the volunteer and "clean up" the page they see.

    Visual Tags on the main profile page, like a color coded button you can use to sort the volunteers by, that are visible from the first page of a profile.

  20. Background check integration for Canada

    It would be fantastic if Volunteer Impact had background check integration for Canadian users, as they do with Sterling in the US. We are just starting to look into this option for our organization and it would definitely be a huge benefit for us and our volunteers!
