Adding pronouns field into Contact Details
Adding pronouns option into contact details field when volunteers sign up to Volunteer Impact.
This allows us to identify the pronouns a volunteer would like to use before we contact them or interview them.
In 2020 we should be normalising conversations about gender, and show trans and non-binary equality. This avoids anyone making assumptions or mistakes with pronouns ahead of talking to the volunteer.

Absolutely! I just contacted Better Impact today to suggest this, glad to see other people are thinking the same.

Totally agree! I also second the non-mandatory option and making it just a text box for people to type in rather than selecting a pronoun option. Also using a custom field for now.

Only think I would add is to not set it as a mandatory field. If someone is questioning or not comfortable sharing their personal identity with strangers, we should make sure they feel supported in sharing when they are ready to do so. But I'd love for this to be a drop-down option that people could opt in to!

Yep, custom field for us too! I used to use the "Salutation" filed, but lots of volunteers don't know what this means and I get a lot of "Hi" or "Hello"

We have added a pronouns as a custom field for now, but great if it was an integrated field.

We got around this hiccup by creating an option for pronouns to be shared with us as a custom field in the application.

I came here to say this exact thing!

We do LGBTI awareness training for other organisations and a big part of showing inclusivity of gender diverse folks is asking their personal pronouns. We do ask and track that via Custom Fields but it would be much easier if they were on the profile page and dashboard (especially for organisations that are fairly new to the concept, so may forget to check). Also, when asking for pronouns, language like 'preferred pronouns' should be avoided, 'personal pronouns' is better.

I would love to get a pronoun field on the profile page! Thanks!
